How to Be a Good English Teacher
Chapter 1. Recognize your students
You have to know and recognize your students. When I was in Junior High School I got English lesson for three years then got three years in Senior High School. I realize it was a long time to make me expert in English. In fact that I could not understand English until I took an English course, then got the easy method how to learn English easily. Learning English for six years is not a short time, but why many students can not even speak and write English after graduating from Senior High School. According to my mind and based on my own experiences the point is that they do not know the method how to make English easier to learn. As a teacher I have to find an easy way to make my students understand the lessons. The way of teaching can be different to the heterogeneous students. I had to find a lot of way in order to make all my students can master the English even though they had different intelligent. I recognized my students one by one. I knew every character of my students. I knew who was the fast learners and the slow learners or between both of them. I taught them with all my heart, I love them. I like standing, writing, explaining, laughing, making joke with them. I love being around my students. If you are not happy staying around your students, it means that teaching is not yours. Forget it. If you have chosen teacher as your profession you have to be responsible to make your students understand every subject you explain without exception. Do not ever complain about their slow capturing the lessons, cause God creates different intelligent to everyone. The important thing is how to make all your students understand you. That is the point why I wrote this book. There are many of our students do not have supporting from their environment, friends, and even their parents, they come to you then. What do they want from you? They want you to treat them different from their environment, friends and parents. They want you to give them knowledge. They want to learn English easily from you. If you do not serve them from deep of your heart, then what will they get in life. You should think about this seriously. They come to you because no one will care of them except you. See. I would like to share with you how I used to learn English. I got a lot of information about how to be good learner of English. I have done all suggestions or recommendations how I should learn English. I did what the people advised me to do in order to master the English. I really wanted to get a good mark in my English when I was in Junior high school. I got bad mark in English. I also got bad experience in learning English. I was sitting in the wrong class, for I myself could not speak and write English as well. All my friends could speak and write English in proper one while I could not do as well as they did. I tried to ask myself why it was happened to me. Finally I know why all my friends took an English course at that time. Then I joined in one of English course institutions in my hometown. I found that English was fun and easy to learn. English was easy to speak and English was easy to understand. Knowing that English was easy to learn, I practiced my English every day. I had a close friend whom I always talked to. I and my friend used our gathered time to learn English. We always talked in English every time we met. We used our game as a topic of our conversation when we played one game. We promised to speak English every time and every where we met. I realized that what we did for years ago has become my inspiration of teaching method. I know the success of teaching and learning is depended to the teaching method. I blame myself when my students can not understand my lessons. Let me tell you about my experience and opinion below:

It is caused that in order to speak and write right English you have to learn seriously. That’s the point. They say that speaking and writing using a good grammar make us afraid to speak and write. They have an opinion that learning English is difficult when they have to use the right grammar in speaking and writing as well.
